ALBAWABA - A Lebanese official said that over 100 Iranians, including some diplomats, departed from the Lebanese capital of Beirut overnight, AFP reported on Sunday.

"A total of 117 Iranians, including diplomats and embassy staff, were evacuated on a Russian plane that left Beirut overnight from Saturday to Sunday," the official told AFP.

The evacuation comes after Lebanon's government on Thursday banned any activity by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, which is a main supporter of the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.

Hezbollah joined the war between Israel, the United States and Iran after a joint attack by Washington and Tel Aviv led to the killing of Iran's supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, on Feb. 28.

The Lebanese group launched drones and rockets targeting Israel, the latter responded with tough attacks on Beirut's southern suburb targeting Hezbollah sites and Iranian diplomats in Lebanon.

It is worth noting that at least 394 have been killed in Israeli attacks, the Lebanese health ministry said.
