ALBAWABA - On Wednesday, a Ukrainian drone targeted a fuel depot in the Russian border province of Kursk, setting fire to a petrol tank, according to the local Russian governor.

"A Ukrainian drone attack... caused a fire at a fuel and lubricant facility. "A fuel tank is on fire; there are no casualties," Kursk governor Roman Starovoyt wrote on his Telegram channel.

Two hours later, he reported that a second drone had struck the depot at the Mikhailovsky Mining and Processing Plant in Zheleznogorsk, around 90 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. He stated that while the strike caused a fuel tank to catch fire, there were no injuries.

Kyiv has conducted a series of drone attacks on Russian energy facilities in recent months, attempting to damage the country's important energy and gas industry, which it claims Russia is using to fuel its military offensive.

In a message issued at 10:45 a.m. local time (0745 GMT), Governor Starovoyt warned Zheleznogorsk residents of potential future attacks and instructed them to "take shelter in rooms without windows and with solid walls."

"If you are on the street, go to the nearest building, underpass, or parking lot," Starovoyt went on to warn the residents of the region.

The Russian governor of the neighboring Belgorod area also stated that Ukraine had launched artillery and drones overnight. Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov stated that the attacks caused some damage but resulted in no casualties.
