Russia declared on Wednesday that it was against politicizing Iran's nuclear program and that it did not plan to end its atomic cooperation with Tehran.
The Russian Foreign Ministry website on the Internet quoted
the deputy of the permanent Russian envoy to UN, as saying that "too much political propaganda is underway on Iran's nuclear program."
Speaking at the UN General Assembly, the Russian official hoped that Iran's nuclear activities would soon be listed among the usual activities of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
"At present, Russia has no grounds for reduction or limitation of its cooperation with Iran in the field of nuclear energy," he added. According to him, none of the international nuclear commitments have been violated yet by either side.
These comments came one day after the Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon left Moscow where he discussed with Russian leaders the alleged Iranian program to develop weapons of mass destruction. Sharon told the Russian president, Vladimir Putin that a nuclear-armed Iran would pose a threat not only to Israel but to world peace. (Albawaba.com)
