ALBAWABA - Moscow announced on Monday that it had evacuated the majority of its team from the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran, which it helped build and operate.

The Director General of the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation (Rosatom), Alexey Likhachev, said that 180 people were currently en route to Isfahan in central Iran from the plant, located in the south of the country, according to Russia Today.

While emphasizing that "everything is proceeding as planned," he noted that 20 people (from the Russian crew) remain at the plant, including managers and equipment operators.

Russia began evacuating its citizens from the plant in recent weeks.

Since the start of the U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran on February 28, Tehran and the International Atomic Energy Agency have repeatedly reported projectiles landing in the vicinity of the nuclear facility.
