ALBAWABA- US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh on Monday, marking a key stop in his first Middle East tour, according to the State Department.
The meeting focused on President Donald Trump's controversial plan for US control of the Gaza Strip and the displacement of Palestinian inhabitants, as reported by AFP.
According to Saudi sources, Rubio's visit to Riyadh, his second stop after Israel, is also part of preparations for a historic summit between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, set to take place in Saudi Arabia to discuss a potential end to the war in Ukraine.
Earlier in the day, Rubio also met with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan after arriving from Tel Aviv, where he reaffirmed US support for Israel.
