ALBAWABA - Sudanese activists stated Tuesday that the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces were responsible for the attack that killed ten people in the state of Al-Jazira in central Sudan.
The executions were carried out by the RSF on Monday night in the town of Barborab, northeast of the state capital Wad Madani, according to the Madani Resistance Committee, one of the hundreds of volunteer organizations organizing aid and relief efforts across the war-stricken country.
Since October 20, at least 135,400 people have been evacuated from various areas in Al Jazirah State as a result of a surge of armed violence and attacks on over 30 villages and towns in the state, according to a UN statement.
According to the UN humanitarian agency (OCHA), the newly displaced people have arrived in 16 areas across Gedaref, Kassala, and River Nile states, amid allegations of missing, unattended, or separated children among the displaced, as well as youngsters with numerous gunshot injuries.
However, according to the organization, thousands of displaced persons in the states of Gedaref and Kassala are receiving hot meals, food rations, health care, water, sanitation, and other services from humanitarian partners.
The intensification of hostilities in eastern Aj Jazirah State was characterized by some of the most severe violence in the last 18 months, according to a coalition of 70 foreign NGOs operating in Sudan.
In order to safeguard civilians and guarantee the secure and unhindered delivery of aid throughout Sudan, the Forum called on the international community to respond to the UN Secretary-General's request for swift action.
