Jordan is expected to resume regular commercial flights to Iraq within one month, after concluding the “necessary arrangements,” said the Jordan Times, quoting Jordanian Minister of Information Taleb Rifai.
Rifai, who was speaking at his weekly press briefing, said that Royal Jordanian was expected to operate weekly commercial flights to and from Iraq, adding that there would be certain arrangements for transporting cargo in these flights, the daily added.
“The United Nations' regulations allow for regular flights to Iraq and our move will be within this context. We will abide by the UN regulations,” the minister told reporters.
The minister did not say how many flights Jordan would operate to Iraq.
Commercial flights to and from Iraq were suspended following the 1990-1991 Gulf War and the 11-year-old economic sanctions imposed on the kingdom's eastern neighbor – Albawaba.com
