The Islamic Resistance Hamas movement has denied that it has threatened to kill Palestinian President Yasser Arafat if he makes peace with Israel, reported The Jerusalem Wednesday.
A Hamas spokesman said that the movement was opposed to making peace, but that it was not planning to take action against Arafat, said the paper.
The movement made it clear on more than one occasion that it opposed the signing of a peace treaty with “enemy” Israel, according to several statements issued by the movement ever since the start of the Intifada on the 28th of September 2000.
The Israeli army, as an attempt to curb the Palestinian uprising, assassinated a number of the movements’ top leaders.
The movement, however, pledged the continuation of the Intifada until the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation troops from all of the 1967 Palestinian territories according to the Security Council resolution 242 – Albawaba.com
