Raft explodes off Gaza coast as Israel arrests nine Palestinians in W. Bank

An Israeli naval patrol boat fired at an unmanned, booby-trapped raft off the Gaza Strip coast early Friday, setting off a loud blast, Israeli sources said.  

 

According to media reports, Israeli officers aboard the gunship spotted the raft some 8 kilometers off the coast of the northern Gaza Strip settlement of Dugit. Palestinian residents on the shore said they heard the explosion several kilometers away in Gaza City.  

 

No injuries or damage were reported in the attack.  

 

Elswehere, occupation troops operating overnight in the West Bank arrested nine Palestinians, Israel's Army Radio reported Friday morning.  

 

Israeli sources said that the army would continue intensive operations and would take action against armed groups in order to prevent attacks. (Albawaba.com)
