Bread in Qatar is free of potassium bromide, the Higher Food Monitoring Committee (HFMC) said on Friday, refuting reports that many bakeries in the Gulf state are using the material, prohibited in Qatar.
An official source at the HFMC appealed to the media to seek correct information from relevant sources before publishing reports that could scare citizens and residents, reported the Gulf Times newspaper.
The committee made inspection tours of bakeries, he said.
