The Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) celebrated its first “Career Day” on July 14 in a special ceremony held at its main theater. The Career Day is held for the first time by the university, and it will be an annual event that aims at widening the university’s students employment opportunities.

President of the PSUT, Prof. Hisham Ghassib, delivered a speech at the ceremony, in which he thanked the private sector, represented by the companies that took part in the career day. Ghassib expressed his happiness for the fact that quite a few of participating business representatives are PSUT graduates.

Ghassib said, “We are pleased with the high reputation enjoyed by our graduates in the ICT market. We tend to emphasize soft skills, subjective coherence and extracurricular skills as much as academic skills, in our graduates".

On his part, Dr. Mohammad Shishani, Dean of the Students Affairs at PSUT, the organizing party for the career day, said: "This is the first time the Princess Sumaya University is organizing the Career Day. And we pledge that this celebration will be an annual event.” He added, “We believe the Career Day is a good opportunity for the university’s students to initiate contacts with the private sector to attain better job opportunities in the future that would meet their qualifications.”

The Career Day was previously organized through the efforts of the IEEE/ psut student section, for the benefit of all Jordanian university graduates. However, this is the first career day organized by Princess Sumaya University for Technology for the benefit of its own students.

It is worth mentioning that PSUT graduates have continually distinguished themselves in their work, both locally and regionally. The tentative National Qualification Exam, has amply demonstrated this fact, and the fact that PSUT graduates are world quality graduates.

The participating companies at the Career Day were: Ministry of Information and Communications Technology, King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau, Ciscom, Jordan Bank for Investment and Finance, ATS, Minhaj, Philadelphia Consulting Group, Microsoft Jordan, e-Sense Software Solutions, Tesco, Executrain, Globitel.
