The E-Business and E-Learning (EBEL) Conference at the Princess Sumaya University for Technology, in cooperation with the Euro Mediterranean partnership program MEDFORIST, that was held on May 23- 24th, 2005, concluded, after the presentation of over 40 studies from 28 countries on subjects pertaining to technology in business and education and its utilization in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
The conference discussed an array of issues in research and new developments and expertise related to the use of information technologies by covering topics such as e-business, e-commerce, e-learning, information systems and knowledge management. The objective of the conference was to merge worldwide information and knowledge networks with the vision of equal global unification of research and knowledge.
Professor Hisham Ghassib, President of PSUT, stated, “We envisage holding an international conference annually involving ICT, computer graphics and animation, for example, so may establish a global reputation for PSUT both in education and research. Furthermore, by embodying the educational ambitions of Jordan, we will stimulate and emphasize Jordan’s research abilities and international standards through global networking at conferences such as the one held this year.”
Dr. Arafat Awajan, EBEL 2005’s Organizing Committee Chair, stated, “The effect of this year’s conference was phenomenal, as researchers and educators joined together to communicate their research and development efforts to construct a two-way bridge of knowledge that may be employed in all participating nations, specifically in Jordan’s educational institutions.”
Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT), established in 1991, is a specialized Jordanian university that is a private, nonprofit institution owned by the leading applied research centre in Jordan, the Royal Scientific Society (RSS). PSUT’s area of specialization is IT, Communications and Electronics.
