Syria’s President Bashar Al-Assad on Tuesday met with British Crown Prince Charles at the Saint James Palace.
During the meeting, Prince Charles expressed his deep feelings for Syria and its civilization and reiterated his “old wish of visiting Syria, the cradle of civilizations and religions”, SANA news agency reported.
In addition, talks during the meeting focused on the importance of co-existence between different religions, nationalities and sects and the political leaderships’ role in achieving such co-existence.
Moreover, talks dealt with the media’s role, which despite modern technology, focuses on “pre-judgments on peoples and has no courage to search for the truth and highlight it”, the news agency added.
President Assad and Prince Charles emphasized the spirit of understanding and harmony among all religions, which calls for amity and contradicts the extremists who try to deteriorate the co-living and existence among peoples, religions and nationalities, SANA said.
The Syrian leader extended an invitation to Prince Charles to visit Syria. The British Prince, according to SANA, accepted it and expressed eagerness to visit Syria at the shortest possible opportunity. (Albawaba.com)
