ArabLab the Expo, annual trade show for the laboratory and instrumentation industry in the Middle East, is gearing up for its 2006 edition with a 40 per cent expansion in floor space after an impressive performance in 2005. The exhibition, held February 13-16 2006 at Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEIC) will cater to demand for technology and implements generated by high profile projects in the fields of health, biotechnology and environmental science in the region.
Biotechnology will occupy a prominent place in ArabLab 2006 through the dedicated BIOLAB section, as awareness grows of the discipline’s importance as a key intellectual investment for future progression. DubioTech, the state of the art biotechnology facility announced at ArabLab 2005 that will cover over 30 million square feet of built-up area upon completion, has stepped up as lead patron for BIOLAB as part of its commitment to further biotechnology research and foster education, training and industry support in the region.
ArabLab is also introducing a dedicated EnviroLab section in response to growing concerns about environmental pollution and the sustainability of natural resources. The section will cater to specialist manufacturers, technicians and experts in the environment science filed to liaise, conduct business and exchange views.
David Domoney, Managing Director, THE DOMUS GROUP, organizers of ArabLab said, “The Arab World and MENA region has evolved as a nexus for investment in medicinal and environmental sciences. Expositions such as ArabLab take on crucial importance given that rapid advances in these fields need a large quantity of instruments and technology-intensive implements that the region does not manufacture indigenously. The UAE market for medical equipment, second only to Saudi in the region, has seen an average growth of 10 per cent for the past three years, with demand being met mostly through imports from the USA, France, Germany, Italy, the UK, Sweden and Japan. ArabLab has evolved as the definitive trade platform serving the Arab world and MENA region, and has seen exponential growth in recent years.”
The exhibition is segregated into specialized pavilions for biotechnology, instrumentation, laboratory equipment, automation, robotics and diagnostics, providing buyers dedicated platforms for sourcing the latest manufacturing and instrumentation products and keeping abreast of new technologies.
“This year, the show is occupying three of the largest halls of DEIC and we are expecting over 7500 visitors from 70 plus countries. Further, 800 international exhibitors and exporters are participating in national country pavilions. Arab Lab 2006 promises to address pertinent medical and scientific concerns for the region by exhibiting cutting edge technology and implements that will further the region’s development schemes,” Domoney concluded.
