At least 30 people were injured when a powerful bomb exploded Monday in a crowded market in the Pakistani capital, police said.

The bomb, planted under a street vendor's cart, went off as hundreds of people were shopping in the Delhi Gate market on Christmas.

"It is an act of terrorism aimed at causing widespread damages," said senior police official Javed Noor.

He said several of the injured were in critical condition -- ISLAMABAD (AFP)
