Some 45 Saudis fighting alongside the Afghan Taliban militia have been killed since the start of the US-led campaign on Afghanistan, AFP said, citing a report by Okaz.
Ayman Abdul Rahman from Braidah, 340 km (213 miles) from Riyadh, was killed Monday, becoming the 45th Saudi to die during the US war on Afghanistan that began on October 7, said the agency.
The paper quoted Saeed Al Mitrif, father of Taliban fighter who died last week, as saying that his son Abdullah was killed in Afghanistan on the 13th of Ramadan.
He said that his son, who was married and had two sons and two daughters, left to Afganistan in October.
Adullah’s brother told the daily that they received a phone call from a friend of Abdullah in which he said that Abdullah was suffering a serious wound.
“Later, he told us that Abdiullah died.”
The paper estimated that some 200 Saudis were in Afghanistan before the war, but other reports put the number at as high as 1,000, said the AFP – Albawaba.com
