The challenges facing the Arab petrochemical industries as they face a free market globally and the urgent need to boost co-operation and research were the focus of the fourth conference on the Development and Integration of Petrochemical Industries in the Arab States, said Bahrain Tribune Monday.

More than 250 delegates from Arab countries as well as international trade organizations and companies are attending the two-day conference, which has been kicked on Monday in Bahrain.

The Minister of Oil, Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa was quoted by the daily as saying that “it was a key event since it coincided with major economic changes the world had witnessed for more than a decade and presented a platform from which Arab countries could map out a strategy to confront globalization and the emergence of major international economic blocs.”

The minister urged national organisations, banks and investment promotion bodies to make a concerted effort to achieve the desired co-operation and integration related to the petrochemical industry, it added – Albawaba.com
