A senior member of the Palestinian National Parliament, Abdul Mun'im abu-Zey'a, said Monday that the Republic of Iran is a powerful country in the Middle East region, which plays a significant role in the Islamic world, according to the Iranian News Agency (IRNA).

Sheikh Abdul Mun'im had spoken to IRNA on the sidelines of a ceremony held in Jordan’s capital to mark the 23rd anniversary of Iran's Islamic Revolution.

He expressed his appreciation towards Iran's ongoing and full backing of the Palestinian nation and its uprising, Intifada, in spite of all the difficulties the Iranian government and nation faced for their support.

The high-ranking Palestinian official added, "if the Americans are threatening Iran nowadays, that is mostly due to the strong support of the Iranians for their Palestinian brethren."

Mun'im explained, "the U.S. has started a crusade, as President Bush initially pointed out, against the Islamic world and the world Muslims, aimed at exertion of its satanic hegemony over the whole Islamic territory”.

"The Islamic Revolution eliminated the Shah, one of the strong supporters of the racist-Zionists in the region from the scene and the exclusion of Iran as a regional gendarme, replacing it with a friendly political system and a strong supporter of the Palestinian nation”.

The Palestinian Parliament Member conveyed that the 1979 Islamic Revolution disrupted all calculations of the Americans and Zionists in the Middle East and they still regret having lost their supremacy throughout the Middle East region.

Abdul Mun'im concluded, "those are good reasons for the racist-Zionist regime to urge their U.S. allies to threaten Iran, and President Bush is apparently inexperienced and weak enough to yield to such irrational demands”. (Albawaba.com)
