A Palestinian was hanged for assassinating a Jordanian diplomat in what was believed to have been a campaign against peace with Israel, Jordanian officials said Tuesday.
Jamal Darwish Fatayer, 35, also known as Rashed Attiyeh, was hanged Monday at Swaqa Penitentiary, 100 kilometers south of Amman. Late last year, Fatayer was convicted by Jordan's military court of conspiring to carry out attacks, which led to the death of Naeb Imran Maaytah, first secretary of the Jordanian Embassy in Beirut. Maaytah was shot while sitting in his car in front of the embassy on Jan. 29, 1994. (Albawaba.com)
