A Palestinian man was killed, allegedly by Jewish settlers, in a village near Nablus, in the northern West Bank, witnesses and hospital officials said Tuesday.
Residents of the village of Beit Furiq east of Nablus said Farid Mussa Nassasreh, 28, was shot by settlers in the stomach while picking olives.
A Nablus hospital confirmed his death and that three other Palestinians were wounded in the incident.
The Israeli army arrested a man from the Itamar settlement near Nablus who admitted to shooting at the Palestinians, Israeli radio reported citing a military source.
The source said a group of settlers took part in the shooting, but only after they came under fire from the Palestinian farmers.
Palestinians have accused Jewish settlers living in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, many of whome carry guns, of taking revenge attacks against them.
Jewish settlers went on the rampage near the southern West Bank town of Hebron late Thursday, shooting and wounding three Palestinians as Israeli helicopter gunships attacked the town, witnesses said.
