A 10-year-old Palestinian girl was killed Monday by Israeli gunfire as she was walking into a United Nations school in the southern Gaza Strip, Palestinian and UN officials said. Doctors at Rafah hospital, where Noran Deed was pronounced dead, said she was shot in the head.
The Palestinians also said a 7-year-old Palestinian girl was injured in the hand. According to news agencies, Palestinian sources said Deed was lining up with classmates to enter their school in the morning when she was shot by gunfire from the army's Termit post, some 900 meters away.
Meanwhile, Khaled Mishaal, political bureau chairman of the Hamas Movement, and Dr. Ramadan Abdullah Shallah, secretary general of the Islamic Jihad Movement, will visit Cairo next Friday for talks with Egyptian officials on inter-Palestinian dialogue, a senior Egyptian official disclosed Monday.
The source pointed out that the discussions would prepare for an expanded conference for all Palestinian factions in the Egyptian capital in March.
The sources further revealed that a high-level Egyptian security delegation would leave Cairo next Sunday to the Palestinian territories and Israel for talks.
Additionally, a 42-member delegation of PA officers would arrive in Cairo on Thursday to receive training on security missions in the Gaza Strip in the light of the purported Israeli troop withdrawal from the Strip, according to the same source.
