The Palestinian education ministry announced it was closing all schools Tuesday after the worst Palestinian-on-Palestinian violence since the beginning of the year-long intifada.
"After what happened today in Gaza, we have decided to close all schools for one day," the education ministry announced Monday night on Palestinian television.
The authority had already ordered the closure of Gaza City universities until further notice.
Two Palestinians, including a teenager, were shot dead by masked gunmen in clashes Monday that erupted after police tried to disperse anti-American student demonstrations, police said.
At least 200 others were injured in street fighting between Islamist students and Palestinian police, hospital sources and police said.
Police blamed masked gunmen in the crowd, while protestors and a human rights group said it was the police themselves who opened deadly fire in Gaza City -- GAZA CITY (AFP)
