ALBAWABA - An Iranian news outlet said Thursday that Pakistan's army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir is set to visit the country today.

It is worth noting that Islamabad is mediating between the United States and Iran to reach an agreement to end the war. In addition, Tehran now examines the latest US proposal to end the Middle East war.

Iran's ISNA news agency said Field Marshal Asim Munir's visit was aimed at continuing "talks and consultations" with Iranian authorities, without providing details. Other Iranian media carried the same report.

Iran's official Nour News website quoted Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei today as saying, "We have received the views of the American side and are currently studying them. The presence of the Pakistani Interior Minister is to facilitate the exchange of messages with the United States."

Mediation efforts have intensified in recent days, after US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he had postponed an attack that was scheduled for Tuesday, at the request of the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
