Kenya's opposition leader, Mwai Kibaki has won Friday's presidential elections, the electoral commission has said.
Kibaki swept to power after vowing to end the corruption and economic turmoil that have marred the 24-year-rule of outgoing president, Daniel arap Moi.
Mani Lemayian, spokesman for the Electoral Commission of Kenya, added Kibaki's National Rainbow Coalition (NARC) had also won the parliamentary ballot, based on interim results. (Albawaba.com)
