Oman will reduce the cost of entry visa fees from January 5 and issue them at airports to promote tourism, the government announced Wednesday.
Business visas for the Gulf sultanate will cost seven riyals (2.7 dollars), tourist visas five riyals (1.9 dollars) and visas for residents of Gulf states three riyals (1.1 dollar), the ministry of commerce and industry and the police said in a joint statement.
A free entry visa has also been made available for visitors from cruise ships calling at any Omani port for less than 24 hours.
Visas will also be issued from border crossings once the necessary facilities are built, the ministry said.
The statement also announced a marketing drive to counter the downturn in the wake of the terror attacks in the United States and US-led strikes on Afghanistan.
