Oman will host an international forum in August to promote the selection of investment projects for the Gulf region, reported the Oman Observer newspaper on Sunday.

The conference has been arranged by the Omani Center for Investment Promotion and Export Development (Ociped) and the Bahrain-based Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC).

"The forum will highlight at least 14 industrial projects which Oman and its neighboring countries have already expressed interest in establishing," said an Ociped spokesperson.

There will be seminars to briefly outline these investment opportunities while workshops will focus more on the logistics of setting up such ventures, he added.

The agro-food, engineering and associated petro-chemical sectors have been especially targeted together with the manufacturing of plastics and rubber, said the official.

Salalah was chosen as the location for the seminar in order to further raise the profile of the city's new free trade zone – Albawaba.com
