North Korea has established diplomatic ties with Kuwait, marking another step in the isolated state's efforts to open up to the outside world, reported Reuters.

"The two countries have agreed to establish diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level at the date of the signing of this protocol," a statement said, adding that the two sides signed the protocol on April 4 in Kuwait.

The impoverished and isolated Stalinist state has been slowing opening up to the rest of the world, and has already established relations with New Zealand, Canada, Russia, Italy, Britain, Germany, the Netherlands and Australia – Albawaba.com
