A new monthly French-language magazine focusing on Tunisia is due to be launched from November 1. The monthly, called 'Le Tunisien', under the directorship of Abdel Wahab Hani, aims to provide coverage and analysis from the Tunisian street. It is being run by Tunisian émigrés in Europe, principally France.
There is considerable demand for open news sources from an analytical perspective for the large emigrant communities from North Africa currently residing in France, Belgium and Holland. The local press is considered too dominated by government interests.
