Three fresh explosions rocked the Ain el-Helweh Palestinian refugee camp in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, intensifying tensions after five previous blasts in the past ten days.
Unknown assailants hurled a hand grenade on the Lebanese army checkpoint at the entrance of the refugee camp, Lebanese police said, according to AFP.
The grenade exploded a few meters from the checkpoint in the Taamir neighborhood inhabited by both Lebanese and Palestinians, without inflicting casualties, they said.
Earlier Wednesday, a bomb seriously damaged the car of an official of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's mainstream Fatah movement in the camp, according to Palestinian sources.
The vehicle was parked outside his home in an area of the camp dominated by Islamist groups opposed to Fatah, the sources said. Three hours later, unknown assailants hurled a hand grenade in another part of the camp, without inflicting casualties. (Albawaba.com)
