Fager Talat Sadat, an Egyptian parliament member and the nephew of the slain Egyptian president, Anwar Sadat, announced that he would run for the presidency of Egypt, according to the London-based Asharq Al-Awsat.
Sadat said he was waiting for the legal date to officially submit his candidacy. In comments published on Monday, Sadat said he wants to complete his cousin's way.
Anwar Sadat was the Egyptian president during 1970-1981. He signed the 1978 Camp David Accords and a final peace treaty with Israel in 1979. On October 6, 1981, Sadat was assassinated during a military review celebrating the 1973 Suez crossing. Sadat appointed Husni Mubarak (the current Egyptian leader) vice president of the state in 1975.
