A 60-year-old Nepalese man wrestled for an hour and killed a tiger who had pounced on his wife, a newspaper said Tuesday.
Murari Chaudhari jumped onto the tiger's back after the animal attacked his wife late Sunday as she stood by food grain, the Nepali-language City Times Evening Daily said.
"Finally after an hour-long battle between the man and the king of the jungle, the beast was killed with sheer physical force and a weapon (a knife)," the newspaper said.
Both Chaudhari and his wife, residents of the southeastern Saptari district, were badly mauled and are being treated at a local hospital, while the tiger's carcass was handed over to police.
