Welcare Hospital, Dubai’s premier multi-specialty, critical care private hospital, announces the appointment of a neonatal specialist paediatrician with practical and research experience in the United States, France, Egypt and Austria.
Dr. Ahmed Fayez Bakr, a consulting paediatrician and neonatal specialist, has special expertise in treating premature babies and those with other complications at the time of birth – including respiratory problems, infections, jaundice and congenital anomalies. As well, he has conducted extensive research and published more than 30 papers on these topics.

The Paediatric and Neonatal Department, which is composed of four experts in the field, including Dr. Bakr, provide a clinic, Accident & Emergency services, in-patient treatment and post-delivery care for newborns. Welcare is the only private hospital in Dubai that has a paediatrician attending 24 hours a day.

A native of Egypt, Dr. Bakr has extensive experience in the fields of neonatal resuscitation, neonatal respiratory distress and advanced management techniques for these conditions, as well as excellent experience using ultrasonography to assess brain lesions.
A professor of Paediatrics & Neonatology in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Alexandria, Dr. Bakr is a member of numerous medical confederations, including the American Pediatric Association, the European Pediatric Association and the Egyptian Pediatric Association.
Dr. Bakr will play a key role in developing Welcare’s new four bed Neonatal ICU which opens end January 2006.
