One of the UAE’s leading financial institutions, National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), has awarded Fujitsu Services a contract for the supply of Fujitsu Siemens Computers PRIMEPOWER 900 servers - a cutting edge, highly secure, and highly available solution - as the platform for deploying its new core banking system.
This is the region’s first such implementation using the latest technology and Fujitsu Services, a major international enterprise partner of Fujitsu Siemens Computers, is providing its UAE-based expertise and certified skills to successfully integrate Oracle 10g Release 2, Veritas Storage Foundation 4.1 MP1 and Solaris 10, to boost NBAD’s core banking system.
“To maintain a competitive edge in the regional banking industry, we were looking for highly reliable servers that not only reduce downtime but also lower cost,” said Mr. Srood Sherif, Head of Information Technology, NBAD. “Going by Fujitsu Siemens Computers’ track record and backed by Fujitsu Services’ hardware delivery and post installation support, the PRIMEPOWER 900 is ideal for deploying the Solaris-based, Intellect core banking system from Polaris.”
NBAD selected PRIMEPOWER 900 for its scaleable performance and flexibility in consolidating different servers and applications onto a central high-performance system.

Fujitsu Services has an established relationship with NBAD having previously supplied the bank with Fujitsu Siemens Computers’ Blade servers, standard Fujitsu Siemens Computers Primergy Intel and Primepower UNIX Servers.
