Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was quoted as saying Monday that his country would not abandon Iraq while the latter faces its most difficult challenges and added Egypt would not hesitate in providing all the aid for Iraq so it can regain its role in the Arab world.

In an interview with the Armed Forces newspaper on the 30th anniversary of the 1973 war, the Egyptian leader warned of "enforcing a political system on Iraq that is unsuitable for the Iraqi people with all their sects."

Allowing the Iraqi people to take up responsibility and authority as soon as possible is the key to success in Iraq, he conveyed.

Mubarak emphasized on the importance of speeding up the reconstruction of Iraq's infrastructure and of finding jobs for millions of Iraqis.

On the issue of Iraq's constitution, Mubarak said that a committee must be formed to draft the constitution that has to ensure Iraq's unity and achieve the people's goals, he added. (Albawaba.com)
