Round eight of the 2006 FIA GT championship which took place at the Hungaroring circuit, saw the Teams titles decided with both Vitaphone Racing Team and AF Corse scoring enough points to make sure they cannot be caught by any of the other teams.

The 2005 winners have once again managed to secure the titles before two remaining races at Italy and Dubai left to run. The two Maserati’s MC12s have successfully scored point in every races, their success meant that the German team was not eager for the podium at the Budapest circuit, fifth place for Andrea Bertolini and Michael Bartels coupled to a seventh place for Thomas Biagi and Jamie Davies was enough to secure the points needed to open up an unassailable lead over Aston Martin Racing BMS left to run.

"We are really happy to win the FIA GT Team championship," Vitaphone sporting director Rafael Calafell said. "It was a really hard season. We have to thank everybody, all the team crew, the cars, the drivers and congratulate them for their great job. Now we will concentrate on the Drivers' title, but it is going to be difficult. We are very glad to have claimed this title, and now we will keep going for the next target."

Meanwhile AF Corse continued to wrack up the points in the GT2 class, with Matteo Bobbi and Jaime Melo claiming second in class and Mika Salo and Rui Aguas coming home in fourth. As if the teams success isn't enough, the two driver pairings will now fight for the drivers' crown in the two remaining races at Adria (Italy) and Dubai.
It is definitely a good day for the team, as we have won the FIA GT2 team championship with this result," Bobbi said. "AF Corse really deserves this Championship title as they worked so well all year. I just have to say thank you to AF Corse and to Pirelli, I'm really glad to be here, and to be part of this kind of team. It is also a pleasure to drive with Jaime."

With just a handful of points separating the first six drivers, Dubai might be the final and critical round to highlight this year's FIA GT race champions. Don't miss out the fun and the thrill of the ultimate FIA GT experience
