ALBAWABA - On the tenth day since the devastating earthquake struck Morocco, search and rescue operations remain in full swing.

Widespread Devastation: The earthquake in Morocco has left approximately 50,000 homes either completely destroyed or severely damaged.

Long Road to Recovery: Red Crescent officials have cautioned that the reconstruction of towns and cities impacted by the earthquake could extend over several years. It's worth noting that around 6.6 million people reside in these affected regions.

Unwavering Rescue Efforts: Despite challenging conditions due to the vast distances between villages nestled in the high mountains and the rugged terrain, search and rescue teams persist in their mission to reach those trapped beneath the debris.

Remote Challenges: The challenging topography has been a significant hurdle, but emergency organizations are committed to delivering critical medical and humanitarian assistance to remote areas in need.

Supportive Measures: The Moroccan military has taken steps to ensure that education continues in affected areas by setting up school tents. Additionally, campaigns for blood donation, involving both citizens and security personnel, are actively ongoing.

Aid for the Affected: In a statement from the Moroccan Royal Court on September 14th, it was declared that the state would provide emergency aid, valued at 30,000 dirhams (approximately $3,000), to affected families in the five regions hit hardest by the earthquake.

Human Toll: Morocco's Ministry of Interior has reported 2,946 fatalities and 6,125 injuries resulting from the earthquake.

Landslide Risk: The ongoing risk of landslides in the region is further complicating rescue and relief operations, making it difficult to reach those in dire need.

Historical Perspective: Morocco has experienced nine earthquakes with a magnitude of 5 or higher since 1900, making this earthquake the most destructive since 2004.
