Morocco has banned the import of the US meat and its derivatives as soon as the first case of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE), known as the mad cow, was discovered in the United States, Moroccan agriculture and rural development minister, Mohand Laensar, said Wednesday. The minister, who was speaking during the House of Representatives question-time, said this step was taken in conformity with the legislation in force, stipulating that imports of beef and other meat should be banned should cases of BSE be discovered in the exporting countries, MAP reported.
