The wives of two Saudis, suspected of a terror plot to blow up U.S. and British warships in the Strait of Gibraltar have been detained by police in Morocco, security officials said Tuesday.

The sources said the Moroccan women allegedly knew about their husbands' plans, were used as money couriers for the al Qaeda network and even purchased the dinghies that were to be used in the attack.

CNN reported that one of the women was attempting to hide explosives in her apartment, when Moroccan security forces took her into custody, a top Moroccan government official told the news network.

The two women were arrested Monday and are being interrogated at the main detention center in the Moroccan city of Casablanca, along with their husbands and an additional man, who was participating in the alleged plot, the sources added. (albawaba.com)
