Morocco’s King Mohammed pardoned on Monday 780 prisoners on the occasion of the anniversary of Prophet Mohammad’s birth, reducing or throwing out their sentences, reported the official Maghrebe Arab Presse (MAP).
Over 270 prisoners received a total pardon for the remaining period of their prison sentence, while the sentences of 474 other convicts was reduced, said a statement by the justice ministry, cited by the agency.
Hundreds of inmates have been granted amnesty by the young monarch since he assumed the throne after the death of his father, Hassan II, in 1999.
