A tribunal of Cadiz in southern Spain has sentenced Hamid Echokhch, a Moroccan human trafficker, to 40 years in jail after his embarkation capsized, killing 37 illegal immigrants about a year ago.

According to MAP, Echokhch, 25, was handed down 37 years in jail for "homicide" due to serious imprudence and three years for violation of foreign citizens’ rights. He was also sentenced to a 90,000 Euro fine to compensate victims’ families.
