The Moroccan electricity market is getting ready for its second and most significant phase of liberalization, planned to take place in 2006. The final result of this will create a hybrid electricity structure in the country, which will be based on two parallel systems, the one public and the other private, coexisting together.

Aujourd'hui reports that since 1994 and the end of the monopoly of ONE, this will be the most significant change in the Moroccan electricity sector. Those who leads Morocc's privatization drive firmly believe that the entry of new operators to the market and its rationalization will bring to a general fall in prices.
