Several missiles were shot at a US transport plane which took off from Baghdad air base.

According to a US military spokesman, the jet was not damaged nor were there any people injured in the incident, which took place on Saturday. It is still unclear who is behind the attack.

Meanwhile, with the upcoming November 2004 presidential elections in mind, US President Bush has decided to ask the United Nations for more assistance in Iraq, and will outline his change of heart before the American public in a rare primetime speech late Sunday. (Albawaba.com)
