Israel's Public Security Minister Tzachi Hanegbi warned Tuesday night that he suspects that someone from the extreme right has already decided to commit a political assassination to prevent the government's so-called disengagement plan.

"I have no doubt," he told Channel 2, "that there are people who have already decided that they will 'save the people of Israel' and will assassinate a minister, the prime minister, an army officer or a police officer. I have no doubt. This is now with us."

Sources close to Hanegbi said that his statement was based on security assessments, including Shin Bet intelligence, regarding the behavior of radical rightists and settlers.

Those assessments are the same used by Shin Bet Chief Avi Dichter in his comments to the cabinet on Sunday, sparking a controversy that led to a Knesset plenum debate Tuesday on the issue. (Albawaba.com)
