Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Al Mahmoud said on Monday that a clash with Jordan over Hamas spokesman Ibrahim Ghoshe had ended with the Islamist's repatriation.

“There is no problem between us and our brothers in Jordan,” the minister told the press after a meeting in Cairo with Arab League chief Amr Moussa, reported the Gulf Times.

“We have special relations and they will remain so,” he said.

Ghoshe, a Jordanian of Palestinian origin, had flown into Amman from Doha on June 14. Jordan then tried to prevent the Qatar Airways plane on which Ghoshe arrived from leaving again without the Hamas spokesman on board.

Amid a diplomatic row surrounding Ghoshe’s attempt to enter the country, Royal Jordanian airlines suspended flights to Qatar and civil aviation chief Jihad Rsheid called on Qatar not to fly to Amman.

After a two-week stand-off in which Ghoshe was barred from entering the country, he left last Thursday aboard a flight for Bangkok.

But later the same day, Jordan agreed to allow him to return after he agreed in a written message to freeze his activities relating to Hamas. Ghoshe finally re-entered Jordan on Saturday.

The paper said that the Qatari minister discussed with the Arab League secretary general a host of issues relating to joint Arab action – Albawaba.com
