A number of Lebanese MPs were preparing to challenge a law banning Palestinians from owning property in Lebanon, Information Minister Ghazi Aridi said Wednesday.

Aridi made the comments after meeting with a Palestinian delegation, reported the Daily Star newspaper.

Parliament recently endorsed a law allowing foreigners to own property while excluding Palestinians from the right.

“Confrontation (with Israel) will not be accomplished through a law that instigates racism or targets Palestinian people and their rights in Lebanon,” he said.

Several MPs protested the new law which sparked criticism from Palestinians in Lebanon – Albawaba.com
