United States and British warplanes have “violated” Iraqi airspace in a “desperate bid to impair (the) solid will of Iraqis and to undermine Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity”, the Iraq News Agency reported on Wednesday.
A spokesman for the Iraqi Air Defense Command told INA news agency that at 0805 (local time) on Tuesday, US and British warplanes “violated Iraq’s space coming from their bases in Kuwait backed by AWACS inside their bases in Saudi Arabia”.
The military spokesman added that the “enemy raven” carried out an amount of 27 armed sorties and flew over the civil areas of Al- lessif, as-salman, al-bsiya , al-juleba, Basra, Qalat Suker, Taktaqa ,al- Nukheib, Shanafiya, Artawi and Samawa, according to INA.
“Iraq’s defense units repulsed the enemy planes and forced them to retreat to their bases in Kuwait”, he added. (Albawaba.com)
