Encouraged by the resounding success of the inaugural III (Interiors International India) and ICON (India International Construction & Contracting) events staged at the modern India Expo Centre - EXPO XXI in Noida, New Delhi from April 26th to 28th, dmg world media Dubai has announced further expansion of the exhibitions for 2006.
The 2005 events featured 134 exhibitors from 12 countries, and attracted 4,143 visitors over the three days.
Exhibitor feedback was very positive and commitment to participate again in 2006 came through loud and clear. Demand has been so heavy that in 2006 four halls will be needed to accommodate the many international and regional exhibitors who have already booked space.
“With the Indian economy expanding at 8% per annum and the current account running at US$6 billion positive, this market has incredible potential” said Bernard Walsh, Managing Director of dmg world media Dubai. “Construction spend is estimated at US$51 billion pa and imports of interiors increased by 31% to US$424 million in 2003”.
The strong momentum of the construction sector is also generating massive business opportunities for companies involved in the food and hospitality industries, as India pro-actively markets itself internationally as a holiday destination. A country that offers a wealth of different types of holiday activities, once-in-a-lifetime sightseeing opportunities and a rich, colourful history, the Indian hospitality sector is set for further significant expansion.
“There is clearly great demand for a dedicated exhibition for the food and hospitality industry – having identified this, we are delighted to announce that Hospitality International India will run alongside III and ICON from 2-4 May 2006” added Walsh, who pointed out that a survey conducted at the conclusion of the 2005 events illustrated the high level of exhibitor satisfaction. “We received highly positive feedback on the organisation of the event and the quantity and quality of visitors. Over 61% of exhibitors said that they had achieved the majority of their objectives, and 83.6% rated the show organisation as good or excellent”.
The high number of top quality trade visitors comprised key decision makers who were eager to meet the major players from around the world at India’s first construction and interiors industry exhibition to be presented, managed and organised to international standards.
“The success of the inaugural III and ICON was remarkable,” said Walsh. “We already know that the 2006 event will be even bigger and better, and the addition of Hospitality International India will further broaden the appeal, attracting an even larger number of visitors”.
