ALBAWABA - Fires erupt across central Israel and the occupied West Bank, forcing evacuations and massive firefighting efforts amid strong winds and heat.
A fire broke out at a zoo in Ramat Gan, which is located in the center of Israel, according to Yedioth Ahronoth, and the authorities were trying to evacuate the people who were visiting the park.
It was also reported in the newspaper that big flames broke out in the Wadi Qelt region, which is located east of the occupied West Bank. This confirmed that Israeli officials are trying to rescue hundreds of people while also deploying planes and firefighting workers. There are worries that hundreds of people may be trapped.
Strong winds and high temperatures caused enormous flames to rage in the region between occupied Jerusalem and Tel Aviv for around twenty hours. On Thursday of last week, the Israeli Fire and Rescue Authority made the announcement that the fires had been brought under control.
"After approximately twenty hours of obstinate struggle, firefighters were able to bring the fire under control," the Israeli Fire and Rescue Authority said in a statement on Facebook.
Furthermore, it said, "More than 100 firefighting crews are currently working in five active sectors with the assistance of firefighting aircraft from the Fire Department's Elad squadron."
According to the findings of the Fire Department, "approximately 10,000 dunams (of land) were burned, causing property damage."
There were three communities between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv that were evacuated as a consequence of the fire, according to an announcement made by the Israeli police on Wednesday.
