Massive explosion reported outside Turkish Aerospace Industries facility in Ankara

ALBAWABA - According to local news outlets, a massive explosion has been reported in the vicinity of an aerospace headquarters in the Turkish capital Ankara.

According to reports, a suicide bomb attack targeted the entry gate to the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) complex in Kazan, Ankara. Following the explosion, the perpetrators clashed with security personnel who were dispatched to the scene.

Turkish Minister of Interior, Ali Yerlikaya, took to X to confirm that a number of people were killed in the attack in addition to dozens injured.

"May God have mercy on our martyrs and I wish a speedy recovery to our wounded. The public will be informed about developments. Please take into consideration the statements made by official sources," Yerlikaya wrote.

Meanwhile, the Turkish Directorate of Communications Center for Countering Disinformation urged citizens to refer to official sources for further information regarding the attack, warning of misinformation being spread in such situations.

"Please take into consideration the statements to be made by official sources regarding the events that took place at the Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TAI/TUSAS) Ankara Kahramankazan facilities. Do not believe unfounded allegations," the directorate stated.
