The most successful exhibition in the history of the London Science Museum, titled The Science of Sport, developed by the National Museum of Science and Industry (NMSI), could soon be coming to Dubai.
Representatives from the London Science Museum visited the UAE this week for further discussions with Dubai-based Javelin Events Organiser to establish permanent exhibits within a new large sports and educational facility being developed in the region with Liberty Investment Company LLC of Dubai.
Utilizing highly sophisticated computerized visual aids and demonstrations, the interactive exhibition allows both children and adults to experience a wide variety of sports under controlled conditions as well as clearly explaining the physical demands on the human body. Under the guidance of a team of qualified sports scientists, visitors can attempt different sports and compare their performance against those of professional athletes and well-known sports personalities.
H.E. Sheikh Khalid Bin Abdul Aziz Al Qasimi, Chairman of Liberty Investment Company, said: “It is vitally important to raise awareness and educate the people and especially the youth of the UAE, on the wide-ranging health benefits of sport participation and a healthy lifestyle. This is a difficult and complex message to communicate and the London Science Museum’s successful use of technology combined with entertainment in the Science of Sport Exhibition, has led us to initiate this series of dialogues to bring such an exciting concept to the UAE.”
Taking the discussions a step further, Sheikh Khalid met this week with a delegation of top-ranking London Science Museum officials, comprising Keith Greaves, Head of Business Development, and Kate Cole, Head of Special Exhibitions, along with Colin Jones, Managing Partner of Javelin Events Organizer.
Commenting on the visit, Javelin Events Organiser Managing Partner Colin Jones said: “We have been working towards bringing the award-winning Science of Sport Exhibition to the Middle East for many years and now we are looking forward to providing a permanent home in a state-of-the-art facility here in the Emirates.”
